Benefits of Web Marketing and Web Advertising

Since the advent of the world wide web, the number of people online has grown exponentially, and so has the potential for web advertising. These days, you can expect people of all ages, from young children all the way up to the elderly, to be browsing the Internet. Web marketing is a valuable tool for most businesses because of a few simple reasons: higher cost-to-benefit ratio, targeting of the right demographic, and greater efficiency of ad placement.
Here are some basic places you might use to advertise your product or service: magazines, newspapers, television, radio, billboards, product placement in video games, and the Internet. The problem with most traditional media in terms of advertising is that they are expensive and don’t necessarily reach your target demographic as well as they might. Web advertising is different.
When you do web advertising, the most common practices include SEO-rich content on your site that gets picked up by search engines, text or banner ads on various websites, backlinks from other websites, and email. What they all have in common is the fact that they all target a general type of consumer. While it is true that you can reach certain demographics based on certain television shows or magazines, imagine attracting an average person who just searched for the kind of service or product you offer.
Now, all of a sudden, with web marketing, there’s an exact match between what they are looking for and what you offer. As for placing ads on other sites, if you know the kind of traffic those sites tend to get, you are much more likely to get the right kind of people clicking on those ads or hyperlinks back to your site. The other main benefit is price. It’s usually much cheaper to purchase a pay-per-click or AdSense spot than to air an elaborate commercial or purchase a spot for a color ad in a magazine.
