Can you imagine the Yellow Pages being around in 15 years? I certainly can not. Therefore, I do not want to spend too much time talking about why it is a bad channel. The other big downfall of it is that for a very small advertising space it costs $400.00 to $500.00 a month in most markets. The other difficulty is picking which Yellow Pages you want to advertise in. These days there are numerous different Yellow Pages, and even if a potential Medical patient picks up a Yellow Pages, who knows if they will pick up the Yellow Pages in which you advertised? Now let us compare this to online advertising. The big, big difference between online advertising and Yellow Pages advertising is that online advertising is going to constantly be changing and growing with time. The Yellow Pages advertising is set for one year, and you are in a fixed contract which will, as I mentioned, take easily $400.00 to $500.00 out of your pocket every month without any measurable return on investment. Online marketing efforts, however, are constantly changing and evolving, and the content that you are creating for new Medical prospects to see is also growing with your increasing favorable online word-of-mouth which you can implement.
The best way to implement a Medical marketing program is without a doubt internet based. After doing a tremendous amount of research, I think increasing you positive online word-of-mouth is the best online strategy to pursue. The reasons for this are straight forward. Before someone visits a Medical Doctor, know what others have said about that Medical Doctor is extremely useful. A lot of reviews about your practice are like having a bigger advertisement in the newspaper or yellow pages without all the cost. There a services that an easily helpful you created your own Medical review site, so your can decide which patient reviews get pushed out over the internet. This way you improve your online reputation.
